9 1/2 hours down, 1 more to go!!!.....I hope

Well, they just came back to check on us again and give us another update.  Everything is re-connected and stitched together.  She is also off bypass.  They are going to monitor her for the next hour or so to make sure all is functioning normally and also they're going to try and close her chest.  It will depend on how much swelling there is and how much fluid needs to drain, but hopefully they'll be able to close her up and then we'd be looking at seeing her in about 2 hours.

What a long 24 hours!!! But worth every minute.
We'll try to keep everyone updated, but chances are our next blog won't be for another couple of hours.  Just be comforted in knowing that the worst is over, and the best is yet to come. :)
I can't wait to get a smile from my new Graceylou!
Love you all! Please continue to pray hard

Ahhhh . . . breathe.

Let's see if I can type while crying with gratitude! God is great, isn't He? What a day we live in that a child can be saved by such an incredible miracle.

Even with all God can do, it still takes the dedication and caring of doctors who deal with more trauma than we can possibly imagine, and yet they still keep coming to work every day!! And how on Earth can they do what they do with such little sleep?! They amaze me!

Give Dr. K and his staff a big hug from us!! And kiss Grace at least a billion times for me :)

Allie says "YAY GRACE!!" from her cell phone - she's still driving as quickly as she can so she can get back in front of a computer.

We love you!!! We are SOOOO happy!!

I am praying, praying, praying that everything continues to go smooth sailing.
Who would have known 24 hours ago you would be knowing your daughter would have received the wonderful gift of a new and healthy heart. Though she is not my daughter. . .my heart is full of love for the donor family and the wonderful gift they have given Grace so she can grow up surrounded by those that love her so much.
I look forward to actually meeting your wonderful family while at PCMC as she has a speedy recovery.

Wow, what a relief! I am so happy for you. Even if they have to leave her chest open, they will cover it with a dressing, and she can come out of the OR, and close it up a little later. I can't believe that yesterday there was a different heart beating inside her.

What a miracle

Yaaaa Grace, keep fighting baby. I was checking my iphone every chance I got while we were at the zoo. I thought of you as we drove by and wished that I could have stopped to see you and give you big hugs. Just know we are wanting to. Thanks for the great updates. I don't know how you do it. I will be waiting for more news soon. Love, Aunt Kalani
